Medical Requests
Jan. 22nd, 2026 12:31 pmThis is a request post for any medical stuff if people would like to play around with some medical drama, whether people want to handwave or play it out. Since I need a bit of a framework to make him sound right as a doctor, I'll try to allow for fullscale bullshitting for the more supernatural/magical and mad science stuff, but go for realism and will rely more on info about real medicine/first aid for more mundane injuries and illnesses just so I have something consistent to lean on.
Since Julian will be doing everything through a lens of his own ethics, I'll generally need requests to fall in line with safe medical practice, especially if it's a problem more grounded in reality. Medical efforts can go wrong sometimes but usually he'll be taking a responsible tack based on his training.
That said, please let me know if there's a specific outcome you'd like. There are sometimes ways around what would normally be IC for him by characters presenting certain info to him ICly, explaining there's some kind of magical/alien stuff going on, or even lying to him about a situation or set of medical conditions. Procedures and medications can also always have side effects or complications if you want life or death drama. Deception is a great way to wiggle something past him. I'll try to see if I can make it work for you.
Powers especially can be used to work around an IC concern. I had a great example already of players using blood powers to mix blood to prove it'd be safe to transfuse without clotting, to get around concerns about possible mismatched blood types. Characters using healing powers can also mitigate danger around some riskier procedures.
And I may update him to a later canon point down the line where his medical ethics get a hell of a lot more dubious due to his experiences during the war.
Also, if you want other options, lots of other characters can provide help! We have a lot of great players of healers and other types. He's the only medical doctor so far, but there are also others in the game with healing powers, experience as magical healers/alchemists, veterinarian expertise, first aid training, etc. Just cast out a net in the OOC or game discord. He's just here if you want to go full dramatic "The Pitt" about things or get some medical Treknobabble about weird stuff.

Type of Medical Help: Injury? Illness? Problems from monster transformation? Explain in detail here.
Handwaved or Played Out: Do you want to handwave something or play it out? I'll try to play out what I can, unless I get swamped or am on hiatus.
When: When would you like to play this out OOCLY or handwave it happened?
Extra Info: Do you want the character to get basic care based on real medicine or do you want something different? Do you want a certain negative outcome? Some kind of fun drama like a character coding or donating blood? Explain more about you're hoping to get so I can respond it and work out the scenario with you, so we can find something semi-convincing that hits the notes you want.
